Although my "legal" first name is
William, I prefer to use my middle name, Dave, or David. Primary amateur radio
activities are DXing, some contesting and rag chewing with DX friends.
Technical interests are propagation, station control, antennas and
"Elmering".
I
retired in 1989 from my own wireless communications businesses. After a
short, recruited stint at Baylor College of Medicine in the electronics
department I was recruited by Texas Children's Hospital "for a few
months",
retiring once more, 12 years later, as a Clinical Engineer in the
Biomedical Engineering Department in May, 2002. Among the "hats" I
wore were those of Clinical EMI (Electro-Magnetic Interference)
control, Telemedicine engineering and wireless telecommunications
systems.
I presently offer consulting services
to hospitals and land mobile services in the field of wireless
telecommunications and EMI detection and control.
A collector and restorer of
Hallicrafters, Drake (pre TR7), Johnson and similar my focus is on
operating condition as opposed to cosmetics restoration.
